Defending the Cause
of the Fatherless

Fathers in the Field is a church-based ministry pairing fatherless boys ages 7 to 17 with godly men from the local congregation. Through outdoor activities, community service, and intentional mentoring, these men walk alongside abandoned boys and point them toward a Heavenly Father who will never forsake them. Calvary Bible Church is honored to participate in this mission, sending men from our congregation into the field to answer God's call.

Who We Serve
One Ministry, Many Lives Changed

Fathers in the Field touches every part of the family and the congregation. No one is a bystander.

Field Buddies
Fatherless boys ages 7 to 17, paired with a Mentor Father for three years of faithful, consistent presence.
Single Moms
Mothers who want their sons to have a godly male role model. No cost, ever. Fully funded by the church and donors.
Mentor Fathers
Approved, background-checked men from the congregation who commit to faithfully walking beside a fatherless boy.
The Church
The whole congregation prays, gives, and serves in supportive roles to help minister to single moms and their families.
How It Works
An Annual Commitment to Boys for up to Three Years

For a boy who has been abandoned, a man who simply shows up and keeps his word is transformative. The ministry is built on constancy and commitment.

The Foundation
The Church Enrolls and Appoints a Church Champion
A Church Champion becomes the liaison between the ministry and the congregation, working with the pastor and men's groups to identify and vet Mentor Fathers.

The Calling
Mentor Fathers Are Approved and Paired
Spiritually mature men apply, submit to a background check, and are approved by church leadership. Each is then prayerfully and intentionally paired with a fatherless boy through a commitment ceremony.

The Rhythm
Four Meetings Every Month
Mentor Fathers and their Field Buddies meet four times a month to study God's Word, serve widows in the community, worship together, and plan a year-end outdoor rite of passage.

The Promise
Three Years of Faithful Presence
The ministry runs up to three years, renewed annually. Constancy is the foundation. By serving others, the boys learn that they have value and something to offer others.

How You Can Defend the Fatherless

This is not a spectator ministry. Every person at Calvary has a role: whether you step into the field, open your family's door, or uphold this work in prayer.

For Men of the Congregation
Become a Mentor Father
Are you a spiritually mature man willing to commit three years to a fatherless boy? The fatherless live in our community, and God may be calling you to step into the field. Speak with a pastor or elder to begin.

For Single Mothers
Enroll Your Son
Does your son need a faithful, godly man in his life? There is no cost to you, ever. The ministry is fully funded. Contact our team and we will walk you through everything with complete care and confidentiality. Moms, please do not mention this ministry to your son before you talk with us. This way you have the full picture and understanding of this ministry and establish eligibility prior to sharing it with your son. This could help avoid potential disappointment.

Pray, Give, and Support
Pray faithfully for our Mentor Fathers and their Field Buddies by name. In your sphere of influence (work, school, extended family, sports teams), look for fatherless boys who might benefit from this ministry. Give to cover ministry costs. This is the whole church's calling.
